Let’s wear shorts!

Posted by: selphie18 on: October 30, 2009

The tights/leggings under denim shorts has become a fairly common sight now as you walk around Bristol. Yet at one point, I remember a time when virtually nobody did it-when did it catch on? I’m not sure myself, but of course I haven’t been able to resist buying in to see what its like, as you’ve seen from a few of my previous posts where I mix shorts (in particular denim) and some form of tights or leggings to make the base of an outfit.

Today I decided was another good day for this kind of thing, especially as I was eager to try out my new grey knit tights. As I’ve mentioned a few times before, grey has really grown on me recently as a colour I really want to buy, try and wear. Whilst my love for the colour yellow lives on (bright, cheerful and sunny, but unfortunately hard to mix at times and not very seasonal in winter…no?) I seem to have a special place in my heart for greys (yellow and grey; what a contrast! haha) so I was particularly hopeful as I tried to match my grey tights with an outfit.

Chunky and thick, the tights make me think of my primary schooldays (thick knitted tights and socks) and winter (if you’re going to wear tights in winter, these are the ones.) However, grey tights are harder to compliment with an outfit than black, leaving me having to seriously consider my next move.

Finally decided on matching with shorts, a plain black top and my grey hoodie (again! And there’s me thinking I’d never wear it again…) my workload was particularly heavy today, so I used my black and white ‘Roxy’ backpack that I’d brought when I was in America last…

Of course, my feet are still in ‘rest stage’ so I’m afraid nothing but the good old converse to finish it off!

In the photo of my converse, you can really see the colour of the tights. In the mirror pic (it was pretty difficult to get an angle where you could even see my tights, trust me!) you can see me complete with my backpack, all ready for a day at university (well, almost…)

Hm…the cons are starting to look pretty battered…they last ages, but even I’m pushing it (haha.) Maybe it’s time for me to invest in a new pair…or maybe put them on my christmas list…
