Vintage skirts!

Posted by: selphie18 on: November 22, 2009

Bristol really is a great shopping location…as well as cabot circus (open until 8pm, often prompting me to go on friday night ‘late’ shopping trips), Broadmead, Park Street, the HUGE primark (according to Wikipedia, the largest primark store in the world…though I’m not sure if this includes London…) and the galleries (you’ve probably noticed I’m referring mostly to the shopping areas near or near-ish the centre, maybe because these are the ones I visit the most!) but what about the more quirky and vintage shopping areas? What about the markets?

Every friday and saturday along Corn street there is a market running, familiar to all those born-and-bred Bristolians. Although not a big market, the trinkets and unusual hand-made crafts and home-made food you can buy there are always worth a look, and I was made particularly happy by a stall selling vintage items of clothing at great prices!

The thing that really caught my eye was the selection of skirts on offer; all the mini-skirts were £5 and there was a good choice. From my usual favourite pleated skirts (had to control myself slightly after seeing some gorgeous pleated Asian style schoolgirl skirts) to plain, straight, decorated and everything in between! Tried on a few but it was a grey (definitely my new favourite colour of the season!) skirt with pleats and a houndstooth mini-skirt which truly won me over (and fitted!)

Wore the grey skirt with a yellow long sleeved knitted top, unfortunately no photos of it at this time, but hopefully to come…

The grey skirt really is stunning…just my kind of skirt! It looks even better on…

I wore the houndstooth with black leggings (too cold for thin tights, I’m afraid!), boots, and a layered combination of my grey ‘Hello Kitty vegetarian’ top and a vest over it.

The t-shirt actually says “kiss me…I’m a vegetarian” and it was a great present I received from two of my best friends, Katie and Maria, for my birthday. Rediscovering the joy of wearing and layering t-shirts can only make me happy!

The t-shirt in its entirety…

Whilst the grey skirt is the real stunner of the two, the houndstooth was fantastic…it looks lovely on… :)
